All boats delivery crew members are avid sailors - members of Lake Murray Sailing Club ( LMSC.org). We race on dinghies all the time – all of us have MC Scows. Some of us own and race Flying Scots as well. A few of us own and all of us crew cruiser boats for fun cruising and racing. We maintain, repair and upgrade all our boats. This page provides our favorite and most useful resources. If some links do not work please inform us and we will fix, remove or replace it: crew@yachtsdelivery.com.
Where to buy
ViadanaUSA.com - same or better sailing boats hardware as Harken at MUCH better prices
We LOVE this hardware - same or better quality as Harken but 2-3 times cheaper!
You can order on the site, but we prefer to order with Jeff Plutchak's help (the representative)
jeff@viadanausa.com. Email him part numbers along with quantities - prices are on the site.
Some parts (rare) are not on the site - make sure to download their PDF
catalog for specs and references. It is very well organized!
Between the catalog and the site it is all covered - do not hesitate to ask Jeff too as he is VERY knowledgable.
No, we are not associated in any way besides being their very happy customer.
BlueOxRope.com - one of our favorite suppliers for lines
American made lines - great quality, great prices. Ordering here whenever we need lines.
Do you know a better source - please let us know:
crew@yachtsdelivery.com
MarinePartDepot.com - stainless stell marine parts
Ordered here several times - good quality, good prices, fast delivery. All made in China obviously but much faster delivery than AliEpress...
Ladder for mast - the safest, fastest and most convenient way to climb the mast.
No pulling the boat out, demasting etc, nevermind emergencies on the water.
We've got this one.
The short step version (33 cm, approx 13 inch vs 43 cm, approx 17 inch ) - easier to climb even though a bit more money.
We got with no slugs and added them ourselves.
There is also this one
(also available as 40 ft version for a bit less money).
This one does not offer short step option.

Maryland School of Sailing: Docking Techniques Seminar
Maybe there are better materials on the subject but this one was very informative and educational for our boats deliveries crew.
New England Ropes: Splicing an eye on double braid rope
This video made a break through with our eye splices. There are many others but this one is the simpliest and most practical.
Soft Shackle
Our favorite ways to make soft shackles. Diamond knot is the same as Lanyard (aka Friendship).
10 second soft shackles
We made quite a few soft shackles we are using on the cruiser we race and elsewhere.
We loved this video as all is very simple and introduces basic concepts.
Loved Ashley Stopper use instead of Lanyard knot we usually used.
KISS: keep it simple stupid!
Premium Ropes: joining a single braid Dyneema rope with double braid polyester
Planning to do it for our racing cruiser sheets (spin and genoa) to make 'em lighter. We will update on how it went when done.
Pros for Boats
Brooks Heyland, Heyland Heavy Equipment and Marine Repair, (252) 732-0377, Beaufort, NC
Brooks is simply amazing! He fixed for us an alternator alarm for the port engine. The problem was torture.
The alternator was replaced in Florida before we left but it did not solve the problem. It was sporadic
so it was very hard to diagnose. One of the contacts for the alternator fuse was shorting to the contact next
to it in the fuse block and not all the time. Brooks very thoroughly diagnosed the problem, found the cause, and fixed it.
He does what he say he will do and follows through.
Brooks also kindly provided info for his go-to person for more complex marine equipment electrical problems: Justin Brown, (252) 732-4965
